Liverpool could be four points clear of the Citizens come their meeting
at Anfield on April 13th in what is no doubt a title altering match,
although they will have two games in hand on their other title rivals.
Kompany scored the winner as City came from behind to beat Liverpool at
home back in December, and the Belgian defender maintains that the Reds
are the strongest team they have come up against this year.
He said: “They are the strongest team we have played this season. They have a great squad and they are not there by luck.”
After facing Liverpool City’s only other obvious test will come away to
the other Merseyside club Everton, who themselves are chasing the last
Champions League spot.
And the City captain knows that a trip to Anfield will be a game that carries high stakes.
Kompany added: “We have different styles but the same philosophy of
trying to score goals, so I think it will be an entertaining game. It's
hard to predict because so much is at stake, but we remember the game we
played at the Etihad and I'm not surprised at all.
"Our strongest part of the season when we won the league was when we had
no other competitions to play in, and Liverpool have had that this
season."
