Man City to rival Chelsea for Argentine prodigy

Manchester City could rival Chelsea and Roma for the signing of River Plate youngster Manuel Lanzini

City manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring in some of the world's best young talent to play alongside his current squad of established world class stars, and Lanzini is one player attracting serious interest at the moment.
Chelsea have reportedly had scouts watch the 21-year-old play recently and could move for him in the summer, while Serie A side Roma are also believed to be among his suitors.
The Argentina Under-20 international certainly won't be short of offers if he does decide to make the step up to European football this summer, and he may find that the style of play deployed by Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium could bee the most appealing and in keeping with his own talent and style.
A creative and skillful attacking midfielder, Lanzini could greatly benefit from playing alongside the likes of David Silva, Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas at City, who could view him as a cheaper alternative to Spanish playmaker Isco, whom they targeted last summer.
"We're one of a few clubs keeping an eye on Lanzini at River Plate," a City insider revealed. "He's a top talent that Pellegrini is quite excited about, but I don't know where he sees himself going at the moment."
